Pasiking

Infinity Room, Herschel Supply Co.

Gastown, Vancouver

May – September 2022

Karl Hipol is a recent graduate of BFA at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. He is a multidisciplinary artist focusing on themes that reclaim and celebrate Filipino identity and cultural heritage. Here, the "Pasiking" (Hunter Backpack) transforms into a new variety, reflecting on the concept of immigration and integration. Borrowing the expression, "Bag can say about its owner and tell a story," Hipol asks: How does your bag function? What essential things can it hold?
